As you may, or may not be aware, much of what was previously the South Hills Mall in Poughkeepsie, New
York has been recently demolished to make way for an outdoor shopping
center. This is quite unfortunate, as the South Hills Mall brought so
many people in our area such fond memories over the past 30 years. Not
to mention, this mall was the original; it introduced the first true
indoor shopping mall experience to Poughkeepsie. Thankfully, Silver
Cinemas, K-Mart, Shop Rite, and Burlington Coat Factory have remained;
which we admire, support, and highly recommend. Although,
unfortunately, everything else the mall had to offer has had to go.
When the South Hills Mall originally opened for business in 1974 in Poughkeepsie, New York; it was a sight to behold, and an experience to be had, if you lived anywhere near here. For decades thereafter, it remained a place to make unforgettable memories, socialize, learn new things, and find great deals.
With the demolition of the physical mall; we were bummed. Who wouldn't be? It's the place we grew up! So, we figured, "why not bring the memory of the mall online; where people all over the world can visit, gather, and shop; and why not have it feature millions of discounted items?" Despite it's destruction, now at least the mall's memory can be available all over the world, offer access to more products than the physical building could ever hold, feature unbelievable prices, and stay open 24 hours a day.
SouthHillsMall.com was indeed previously the official site of the mall while it was still open. However, this site in it's current form is in no way associated with the current, or previous owners, of the location where the South Hills Mall once stood in all it's glory. This site is now instead run by fans of the South Hills Mall. After years of finding great deals there, and with gas prices as high as they are; we feel this venue is an appropriate place to continue to help loyal fans from all over find incredible deals, share fond memories, socialize, and keep the mall open; not only in our hearts, but online.
